Wordflow: Social Prompt Engineering for Large Language Models

Wordflow: Social Prompt Engineering for Large Language Models

Abstract:
Large language models (LLMs) require well-crafted prompts for effective use. Prompt engineering, the process of designing prompts, is challenging, particularly for non-experts who are less familiar with AI technologies. While researchers have proposed techniques and tools to assist LLM users in prompt design, these works primarily target AI application developers rather than non-experts. To address this research gap, we propose social prompt engineering, a novel paradigm that leverages social computing techniques to facilitate collaborative prompt design. To investigate social prompt engineering, we introduce Wordflow, an open-source and social text editor that enables everyday users to easily create, run, share, and discover LLM prompts. Additionally, by leveraging modern web technologies, Wordflow allows users to run LLMs locally and privately in their browsers. Two usage scenarios highlight how social prompt engineering and our tool can enhance laypeople's interaction with LLMs. Wordflow is publicly accessible at

Simplifying AI with Social Prompt Engineering: Introducing Wordflow

As artificial intelligence (AI) continues to grow, Large Language Models (LLMs) like GPT-4, Gemini, and Llama 2 are changing the game in tasks such as summarization, translation, and content creation.
But to truly unlock their potential, users need to master prompt engineering—a complex skill that's not easily accessible to everyone.
This is where social prompt engineering and tools like Wordflow come into play, aiming to make these powerful technologies more user-friendly for everyone.

The Challenge with Prompt Engineering

Prompt engineering involves designing prompts that guide LLMs to produce the desired outcomes. It's a crucial yet challenging skill, particularly for those without technical backgrounds.
Traditional approaches have been complex and daunting, making it hard for many to effectively use LLMs.

Wordflow: Making LLMs Accessible

Wordflow is an innovative tool designed to tackle these challenges. It simplifies the process of creating, managing, and sharing prompts, opening up LLMs to a wider audience. Here's a closer look:

Key Features of Wordflow
